Moody's abaisse la note de Bank of America de deux crans, à "Baa1"

New York (awp/afp) - L'agence d'évaluation financière Moody's a abaissé mercredi de deux crans, de "A2" à "Baa1", la notation de l'établissement américain Bank of America en raison d'une moindre probabilité d'une aide du gouvernement américain en cas de besoin.

"Le gouvernement va probablement continuer à apporter un certain niveau de soutien aux institutions financières importantes structurellement", a indiqué l'agence dans un communiqué. "Cependant il est aujourd'hui plus probable que pendant la crise financière il permette la faillite d'une grande banque si elle devait rencontrer des problèmes financiers, les risques de contagion étant devenus moins aigus".

The downgrades result from a decrease in the probability that the US government would support the bank, if needed. Moody's believes that the government is likely to continue to provide some level of support to systemically important financial institutions. However, it is also more likely now than during the financial crisis to allow a large bank to fail should it become financially troubled, as the risks of contagion become less acute. Moody's is therefore lowering the amount of support it incorporates into Bank of America's ratings to levels reflected prior to the crisis
